Two NCAA women's hockey programs, the Maine Black Bears and the Vermont Catamounts, meet at Harold Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine. The arena is a premier multi-purpose venue on the University of Maine campus, hosting Black Bear hockey since 1977 and having undergone a major expansion in the early 1990s. The matchup highlights the strength of the regional women's college hockey scene and reinforces Harold Alfond Arena's central role for Maine's hockey programs.
